FLY FISHING INSTRUCTION

Intro to Fly Fishing

This four-part introductory course will get you started properly in the fascinating sport of fly angling. Extensive time will be spent on the principles of good fly casting, with knowledgable Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructors helping you dial in your casting technique. We will also teach you the knots you need to know, explain some of the intricacies of fly tackle selection (rods, reels, lines, and leaders), give you an overview of the food that trout feed on, and help you with proper fly selection. Time will be divided between the classroom and outdoors casting. Cost for the four part program is $95 per student. Please register in the shop, online or by phone, as classes are limited to provide for lots of individual attention.

FLY TYING COURSES

Beginner Fly Tying 

This introduction class is the perfect way to learn the fundamental methods and learn about the different tools and materials used along with fly tying. This class involves three seperate 2 hour long courses where we will cover basic but effective flies that even the most experienced tyers have in their fly boxes today! All vices, tools and materials are provided. ( 6 people per class )

Match The Hatch (May) 

This hatch specific class will cover all the right flies you need to have in your fly boxes for Michigan trout fishing in the month of May. From the first dry flies of the season right into Hendricksons and then finishing with the various sizes of yellow bugs! This class will be best suited for the intermediate to advanced fly tyer, we will cover everything from wet fly imitations to top secret spinner patterns! This class involves two seperate 2 hour courses for $65. All tools and materials are provided.

This hatch specific class will cover all the right flies you need to have in your fly box for Michigan trout fishing in the month of June. June is month of the big mayflies and alot of evening fishing. We will cover some awesome Brown Drake, Isonchiya and Hex patterns! This class will be best suited for the intermediate to advanced fly tyer! This class involves two seperate 2 hour courses for $65. All tools and materials are provided.

Predator Flies - For those that love toothy critters this ones for you. In this class we will be tying and discussing all things predator flies. In addition to tying predator flies we will be discussing the large array of matariels best suited for these tooty beasts. This class will be best suited for the intermediate to advanced fly tyer! This class involves two flies for $50. All tools and materials are provided but feel free to bring any tools you would like to use.

Game Changer Class

Game Changers - This class will be on all things gamechangers. We will not only tie a game changer but also discuss several variants and unique techniques involved in tying this amazing and effective fly pattern. This class will be best suited for the intermediate to advanced fly tyer! This class involves tying one single fly for $50. All tools and materials are provided but feel free to bring any tools you would like to use.

Smallmouth Flies Class

Smallmouth Flies - Lovers of smallmouth listen up. This class will cover some of our favorite flies for targetting these fiesty fish as well as angling techniques involved in targeting our local smallmouth. This class will be best suited for the intermediate to advanced fly tyer! This class involves three flies for $50.
